Prospective Graduate Students

Stanford's Guide to Getting into Grad School provides information for prospective applicants to consider before starting their application.

Thank you for your interest in Stanford's Statistics graduate degree programs.

Please take a look at our Academic Programs  webpage for details about our program options.

The department is unable to provide any admissions counseling, such as advising or assessment of an applicant's qualifications and therefore does not respond to such requests. Applicants must determine eligibility before starting the application. Eligibility and application requirements are set by the University. The GRE general test is required as part of both the M.S. and Ph.D. applications.

IMPORTANT: Effective March 2021, the GRE Math Subject Test is no longer required. Applicants to our program (including those interested in biostatistics) will only be required to take the GRE General Test.

Our MS admissions and degree program pages address all the relevant information. Please refer to the MS or PhD links to the left for further information.

We address the logistics of finishing the degree program on the Frequently Asked Questions page.

Unfortunately, the Statistics department does not have staff dedicated to scheduled or drop-in visits from prospective graduate students, although they are welcome to visit Stanford's campus.
