Consulting Services

The Department of Statistics offers a free online consulting service to members of the broader research community during each Stanford academic quarter.

Under the supervision of a senior faculty member, Statistics graduate students arrange Zoom meetings with clients to help with statistical research questions in areas such as:

  • Experimental design and data acquisition
  • Data exploration, analysis, and interpretation
  • Modeling data and model fitting
  • Statistical inference for estimation, testing, and prediction

Students taking statistics courses should understand that this is not a tutoring service.

Consulting Services for Autumn Quarter will accept appointment requests via this form until November 15th.

Please note that consultants from the Statistics Department do not assist with programming, coding, or running statistical software. Other resources are available at Stanford that may align more closely with these types of requests, such as:

  • SRCC, the Stanford Research Computing Center
  • SDSS, a group within Stanford Libraries that helps with statistical software
  • Computational Consulting, advice on scientific computing topics offered by ICME
  • The Data Studio, Stanford Medicine's biomedical data support services
